Leading a business is a daunting task. The unique nature of thrift makes managing people, processes and profitability even more challenging. With decades of collective experience across the SMCo Thrift team, you can learn from our mistakes and successes as you manage your thrift operation.
Applying Best Practices
We’ve discovered two key principles that help make day-to-day management easier.
- We’re better together.
- Regular rhythms help build enduring habits.
It starts with a conversation with the SMCo Thrift team. Each month, we host a group coaching session where we tackle a new topic to Do Thrift Better and we answer questions from those participating. The live Q&A sessions provide immediate feedback to your questions so you can implement any needed changes quickly and manage your thrift operation effectively.
To maintain positive momentum, a weekly team meeting takes place. This time fosters teamwork and it creates a sense of expectation. The agenda includes a Focal Point of the Week that builds upon the topic from the group coaching session. It also includes a review of the metrics from the previous week, to celebrate successes and identify needed course corrections. At the end of each meeting, every team member knows where you are and where you are going.
The plans for these weekly meetings are shared with thrift operators across the country. And, as you might expect, additional questions arise, so SMCo Thrift created KnowThrift.com, a virtual gathering place where these questions can be unpacked together. In the Invitation-Only area, you receive insight from the SMCo Thrift team as well as wisdom from other like-minded leaders. And any lingering questions will be addressed in the next group coaching session.
With monthly group coaching sessions plus weekly meetings agendas provided by the SMCo Thrift team, a rhythm is established that leads your team to Do Thrift Better. And soon your team will not only be talking about best practices but doing best practices.
Starts at $119 per month and every person in your organization is included.
Manage Your Thrift Operation with Metrics
While the SMCo Thrift team can provide relevant content on schedule to help develop a rhythm, it’s up to you to capture your metrics and use the information to Do Thrift Better. ThriftTrac exists to make capturing the metrics that matter easy. Use your own customized dashboard as part of your weekly meetings to review up-to-date details to inform your decisions.
Starts at $318 per month, including access to ThriftTrac Complete for a single location plus access to group coaching sessions and weekly meeting agendas.
Dedicated One-on-One Coaching
Particularly during times of transition, having a reliable coach can keep your thrift operation moving in the right direction. SMCo Thrift partners with a limited number of organizations in a high-intensity, one-on-one coaching relationship. These partners engage with the SMCo Thrift team in regularly scheduled calls to review progress towards identified milestones and discuss hot topics facing the organization. An annual one-day site visit takes place to review existing and potentially new facilities as well as engage with the entire team face-to-face.
- Includes the cost of ThriftTrac for one location. (Additional locations will receive the preferential pricing of $99 per month.)
- Access customized dashboards, after a nominal setup fee.
- Includes the cost of PickUpMyDonation for a single market.
- Access the monthly group coaching sessions with other thrift operators, the meeting agendas delivered weekly via e-mail, and supplemental content.
